Delhi rocked by explosions; toll up to 40



Terrorists have carried out a serial bomb attack in New Delhi this evening as the city was getting ready to celebrate Diwali following the weekend.



A massive explosion rocked New Delhi’s busy Paharganj area killing at least 10 people according to reports. The blast took place in the main market in Paharganj at around 5.38 pm, the fire brigade sources said. Minutes after the attack in Paharganj area, Sarojini Nagar was hit. Many casualties are feared there as well. Our cartoonist Ankur’s father was near one of the blast site - Gupta Flour corner, a popular hangout in Sarojini Nagar. He further adds, one girl sustained severe injuries where her left leg was blown apart.



This seems to be the handiwork of terror forces from across the border from Pakistan chosen to carry out these terror attacks in the time of a major Indian festival - Diwali.



Update: Govidpuri and Okhla have been targeted as well. Number of people killed reported to be close to 40.

My wife and I witnessed the bombing in Paharganj. The explosion happened on a very busy intersection on Main Bazaar St. The streets were soaked in blood and several body parts could be seen. The police and emergency rescue teams seemed to be on site immediately. It was a bad scene. We were only 50 meters away and had just walked throught the same interesection 30 seconds prior.

Congrats John! But one does feel sorry for those falling prey to the sinister design of the terrorists. I can imagine what it must have been like especially for a family who is India all the way from the USA for Diwali festivities.
If only we have more of Johns, who can react to the events, I am sure, we will have less of blasts.

It is digusting the way every single bad thing that happens in India is blamed on Pakistan.I ndia is absolutely oblivious to the fact that this could be the work of its own countrymen. Whenever there is no breakthrough in any case of bombings, it is simply blamed on Pakistan. It’s absolutely no wonder that these terrorists escape everytime.

Dear Fatima,

First thing first, Pakistan is not blamed for everything happens in India. We do have disputes but we are trying to sort it out not trying to distort it further at political level.

However, it is not plausible whenever we come across news that those wanted in India are roaming free in Pakistan.

Your’s comment ....’It’s absolutely no wonder that these terrorists escape everytime’, ......but the point is where do they go?
