ParticipantMy Mum always reheated rice until a friend from India who makes a mean curry advised her not to.

ParticipantThe registrar is not necessarily also the hosting company. If they are not hosting the site and have no control over the domain’s DNS records then I don’t think there’s much they can do apart from try to notify the host. And they probably already know they’re on a hiding to nothing notifying a dodgy Russian one.

ParticipantPerhaps Trump could visit incognito,
disguised as a large Tree possibly.

ParticipantNot to dismiss your suggestion, but pretty sure it’s hard to avoid blame if you are the car doing the rear shunting. But nicer not to have to argue it out without video evidence.

ParticipantWill she wear it all the time? Self winding watches are not great if they get the chance to run down.
The battery powered one is likely to keep time better, be cheaper, and not run down if left on the dresser for a while. The only real downside is a battery change every few years. But the automatic is so much cooler, especially if you can look inside and spend a while figuring out how it all works. Only you know whether she’ll appreciate the coolness or not.

Participantgive it a really good thrash at high revs immediately before the test if it’s a diesel.
What does this achieve?

ParticipantHonda Accord. No longer sold new as apparently overengineered therefore uncompetitive price. Current one is 08 plate, with 190k miles. Everything works perfectly, and the only non service parts / consumables its had is one battery. Its even on the original exhaust. The bodywork is however, not showroom condition, but neither I, nor clearly the previous owner, are too bothered about cosmetics.
I was shocked at how much they go for on ebay with high mileages (200k +), especially the 2.2 diesel.
I’m going to keep getting these until they arent available anymore, but as current one shows no sign of falling apart, that may be a while.

ParticipantThere’s no law against having more than one job! – you just need to do it by the book.
In the absence of a P45 your friend can download a New Starter Checklist form to give to a new employer to help them determine their tax code. One of the options you can check states “As well as my new job, I have another job or receive a State or Occupational Pension”.mo
ParticipantLooks like I’ll be getting 24.89%, which is nice!
However, I would also like to be able to go to work and not feel physically, mentally and emotionally exhausted due to the every increasing pressure put on us year-on-year due to increased workload/ decreased staffing levels. I would also like to know that if I needed to call an ambulance for myself or my family that there would be one nearby and available, unfortunately at the moment that often just isn’t the case, and I am pretty sure me getting a massive pay rise is not going to improve these things.
Edited – Tell a lie….pay deal has not been agreed for Wales yet

ParticipantOne of the few DIY things where I’d want an expert opinion. Serious point – for the cost of a pit done well, how much more could you pay a garage to do?
Look into tanking to keep water out – most likely Soverign Chemicals Hey’Di K11. It’s not cheap.
A pair of drive-on steel ramps has made my under-car scrabbling much nicer.

ParticipantI haven’t got oil powered central heating, but I know people who have. My understanding is that it is a little more expensive to run than gas. 500l is about £200, doesn’t seem outrageous for 7-8 weeks of heating and hot water.

ParticipantYes it is one of the bits of info in a standard reference but if you got overtime, bonus, car etc you could say you were adding those in if questioned.

ParticipantAnd the Text Bomb bug isn’t that big a bug really.
A text that can crash a handset isn’t really a bug?
There is potential for all sorts of problems there if the bug can be improved upon.
I’m worried about older Android stuff because there are real problems there. At least Microsoft and Apple try to keep legacy stuff patched.
Once a manufacturer installs an android OS in their kit and move onto a newer bit of kit with a more current android OS, the manufacturer does not give a stuff about the older OS and its security flaws.
Android kit could have more devastating consequences than all the others put together.

ParticipantI’d be more inclined to go to a good physio. It could be something muscular in which case no amount of cracking you neck will fix it. I also really don’t trust anyone that will attempt to crack your neck as it can very very easily go horribly wrong. Hope you’re feeling better soon!

ParticipantThanks all, definitely some good pointers there. I had intentionally avoided buying second hand as I would want a full manufacturers warranty behind any electric car I bought, and the cost of replacement batteries is scary. If ‘they’ are pushing to keep the second hand market working/growing, then perhaps this will become less of an issue. It’ll realistically be about a year until I can even realistically consider making the jump, so perhaps a lot will change in that time.
