Very much sounds like anxiety. Poor you and poor him. I know what it’s like to obsess over something and it really is hard to break the cycle. I think the dr’s need to be quite clear with him that he is physically fine and that his pain is more likely to be anxiety related and that he needs to seek counseling rather than taking up gp time.

retired at 54. My employer had to either give me early retirement or redundancy. Never looked back and retirement is great whilst you are still young enough to enjoy it BUT you have to make sure you are going to have enough to do.

A SOOCOO. Mines a C30 I think but they are all good. Comparable to a Go Pro, they fit in the GoPro clips and accessories etc. If you look on Youtube theres split videos comparing them to a GoPro and they are as good if not better. I did a LOT of research before deciding on the SOOCOO. Mine cost £55 inc 14 accessories, a memory card and 2 batteries!

I think narcissism and vanity would both come from the same ‘source’ if you like, but it seems like in written text their meanings can be overlapping or different, depending on the context.

    narcissism
    noun
excessive interest in or admiration of oneself and one’s physical appearance.
    PSYCHOLOGY
extreme selfishness, with a grandiose view of one’s own talents and a craving for admiration, as characterizing a personality type.
    PSYCHOANALYSIS
self-centredness arising from failure to distinguish the self from external objects, either in very young babies or as a feature of mental disorder.

    vanity
    noun
    1.
excessive pride in or admiration of one’s own appearance or achievements.
“it flattered his vanity to think I was in love with him”
    synonyms: conceit, conceitedness, self-conceit, narcissism, self-love, self-admiration, self-regard, self-absorption, self-obsession, self-centredness, egotism, egoism, egocentrism, egomania; More
    2.
the quality of being worthless or futile.
    “the vanity of human wishes”
synonyms: futility, uselessness, pointlessness, worthlessness, purposelessness, idleness, fruitlessness, profitlessness
“the vanity of all desires of the will”
